Portable Electric Heaters / General Electrical Safety

Some things to make sure of –

First – Have and check the required smoke detectors as well as the CO / Carbon Monoxide Smoke Detectors.

Second –  Use your Electrical circuits correctly just because you can doesn’t mean you should.  For instance you may have enough plugs to plug in 4 or 5 Electric heaters but in NO way should you. Most circuits are only rated for one.  Most electric heaters are capable of 1500 watts that maxes out a standard circuit.

This means most bedrooms side by side are on the same circuit and you don’t have enough available power to run two at the most one on medium to low.

Our recommendations are to never use Electric Heaters they cause damage to the outlets and the circuits they are used on. If you must 1.) try to use a dedicated circuit for these, 2.) keep them away from flammable things and, 3.) always follow the instructions on the labels.

There are allot of different codes and laws on electrical and on who can work on it.  Always check for licensing and insurance this is your responsibility as the owner.
